Listed below are the rules and guidelines of the board. Upon creating an account, be it an ooc or a character account, you are agreeing to be aware of and follow the rules set forth by the staff of Threnodies. As we are an official proboards listed forum, Threnodies adheres to the proboards terms of service, which does include the community guidelines.
If you'd like to register an OOC account, we welcome it, but every member is allowed to one ooc account!
Every member deserves the same amount of respect as everyone else. There is to be no bullying, flaming, racist or bigoted commentary, or harassment of any sort allowed on this forum.
There is no tolerance for those who steal characters, art, writing, or any other material from anyone else on the internet, be they a member or an outside Internet denizen.
Please let the staff do their jobs! While it's great to help new members get their footing on the boards by directing them to other portions of the site, answering questions for the staff such as 'is x thing okay?' will only create confusion when a staff member does log in! It is recommended to send the new member the staffs' way if it's a question that will get lost in the cbox, but otherwise, we will attempt to get to it ASAP!
Despite the above, it is requested that you do NOT harass members, staff, or anyone else to do anything. This is a fun place for everyone, and should not be a source of major stress. Staff strives to have a swift response time, but sometimes life comes up.
If you do need to take some time off, be it because the board's too much, or a life situation popped up, then please post in the absence board so that we do not remove you from active membership!

The minimum age for any player-character is 18.
There can be no characters or faceclaims under the age of 13. This is against ProBoards TOS
Please use your best judgement when picking a faceclaim. Its unlikely you'd want to choose a 35 year old to be the faceclaim of someone who is supposed to be 18, etc.
Every character should have their own account. It is recommended that their registered name is something that links the character easily in case of tags, such as their first name for ease of remembrance. Their display name should be their first and last name. Every member is enabled to change their character's usergroups in their profiles when the need arises, and it is recommended you do so!
There is no character limit, except the one you deem is reasonable for yourself. Please attempt to be active with each of your characters, especially canon characters.
Characters are required to be accepted before they can play with the others. The character application area is here.
Your characters, be they canon or otherwise, cannot emulate characters from other works. Naruto does not exist in Thedas!
As canons and original characters are both weaving themselves in and out of the storyline, it is asked that you do NOT interweave your character's history with that of other characters, unless you get express permission from that other character's player to do so. Assuming that Cassandra fell head over heels for Bob the Templar could turn people off from playing Cassandra
It is highly recommended that characters have a faceclaim, or representation of themselves in some variety. Famous people such as Lady Gaga or Brad Pitt are acceptable, as are stills/gifs from any of the games' character creators. We ask that if you do use a real person for your character, that you do not use a Internet personality (from youtube, instagram, vine, facebook, myspace, etc), but that they do have a presence either as a model, an actor, or someone with a press release of some variety.
Character acceptance will occur when an application is completed and meets the specifications of the staff. We will ask you to edit bits and pieces of your bio to allow for fair play for all of our members if necessary, but we will not ask you to completely compromise your character.

Large avatars (both for character accounts and ooc accounts) are sized to 250 x 350 pixels. Small avatars are square in size and should be minimum 100x100.
In either case of avatar, you may use pictures appropriate for board content. Nudey pictures and provocative child pictures are an obvious no-no. (see rules about proboards things above)
You MAY use the art of other artists, so long as we see some proof that you have EXPRESS PERMISSION to use said fanart.

There is to be no godmodding. No one has an omnipotent character.
There is to be no powerplaying. You do not control anyone else's character but your own. If you need to verify someone's character follows an action, ASK that player.
There is to be no metagaming. Characters do not magically know a plot point that is kept secret from their race, nor can they read the minds of the other characters around them.
While racism, sexism, or the like is not tolerated OOCly, we recognize Thedas is not known for the same racial tolerance. We allow the use of terms such as 'knife ear' or 'basra,' as they are integral to the tone of Thedas.
Characters will not be killed or horribly maimed at anyone else's whim. That's no fun at all!
However! Consequences will befall the character who acts foolishly. If you ride into a dragon's line of fire on a petrified hart wearing nothing but your cheese shield and breeches, then expect to come out of that fight with some injuries!
There is no word count, but we ask that you give your partner enough to reply to! One-liners are just rude!
It is asked that you write your posts in third person format.
Liquid time is our best friend. You may create as many topics as you'd like, so long as you can keep them going.
