Meet Séaghdha (Shay), the man of many former titles who is grateful that these days it’s just ‘Séaghdha.’ Not that the Inquisition wasn’t a grand time, of course – saving the world is quite literally his favorite hobby – but after you find out your entire faith is a lie and your best friend absconds with your arm, you start to want a break. Séaghdha’s been taking one by, well… still trying to save the world. Altruistic and a little naïve, the former Inquisitor is a ball of energy and ideas, and a lot of very dark secrets.
Are you a being of some form of sentience? Good. Séaghdha will try to be your friend. This is no exaggeration: Séaghdha is very kind, friendly (albeit quirky) and perpetually curious, who generally assumes positives about people until proven wrong. These days he’s started to keep people from getting too close, but from spirits to Qunari, mages to Templars, he is always ready with a smile and a helping hand.

It’s impossible to have held a seat of power and not have made enemies, both from without and within, and Séaghdha is painfully aware of how that number has racked up. While his past deed, his Dalish heritage, or the fact he’s a mage are usually enough reason to hate him for most, the rampant rumors that he harbors some dark power might collect some additional foul glances. Or, his philanthropic nature and ceaseless questions may have just pissed someone off. Regardless of the cause, he keeps a watchful eye on those who might mean him harm, and while he tries not to assume there’s a knife aimed for his back, his paranoia has him prepared for it.
Séaghdha has had a bare minimum of romantic interactions. Ever since being plopped out of the Fade he’s been so singularly focused on saving as many as he can (during whatever the current crisis was) he hasn’t given any thought or felt the desire to pursue them. His newly developed difficulty with letting people too close does little to help foster affection, and even if he should let someone in, Séaghdha struggles with his fears. When he has no walls to hide behind he is sensitive, even vulnerable, and it would take a patient hand to coax him out of his uncertainties.
It’s important to note that while Séaghdha optimism is strong and active, it comes with a lot of shadows. He suffers from the traumatic experiences of the last 16 years, and while he does his best not to let it plague his desire to smile, he is regularly unsuccessful when behind closed doors. He struggles with reconciling what has been taught with what he now knows to be true, with all the secrets he has to keep locked away, with the losses of his people, his friends, and his faith.

romance
Séaghdha has had a bare minimum of romantic interactions. Ever since being plopped out of the Fade he’s been so singularly focused on saving as many as he can (during whatever the current crisis was) he hasn’t given any thought or felt the desire to pursue them. His newly developed difficulty with letting people too close does little to help foster affection, and even if he should let someone in, Séaghdha struggles with his fears. When he has no walls to hide behind he is sensitive, even vulnerable, and it would take a patient hand to coax him out of his uncertainties.
Note: Due to not wanting to shoehorn anyone into a relationship or upset the canonical balance, it is assumed Séaghdha was unromanced through the events of Inquisition.
